2013 Summer Workshops

GLBBS is offering a wide variety of popular workshops this summer to suit all ages and abilities.  They range from  Chesapeake Light Craft boat building kits to woodworking, metal casting, woodcarving, and an introduction to the concepts and techniques of traditional wooden boat building and lofting.  Enrollment is limited, so we urge you to register early.

Build Your Own Boat Workshop Series

The staff and instructors at the Great Lakes Boat Building School (GLBBS) are happy to once again team up with the folks at Chesapeake Light Craft (CLC).  We are offering a series of workshops this coming summer in which you can build your own boat in fun and educational, one-week classes.  We are featuring boats that have been yearly favorites, as well as introducing some new choices that we think will have great appeal.

GLBBS has just teamed up with Maritime Heritage Alliance in Traverse City, Michigan and are introducing two Satellite CLC Workshops there.

Traditional Wooden Boat Building Workshop Series

The Great Lakes Boat Building School is once again offering summer workshops to introduce the concepts and techniques used in traditional wooden boat building. 

Artisan Workshop Series

The popular Artisan Workshop Series will offer a series of workshops in craftsmanship taught by various local and visiting artisans.

Summer Workshops Enrollment

Registration is easy, and we will be happy to assist you with suggestions for lodging.  For the hands-on experience, workshops are limited in size as related to the project, so early enrollment is encouraged.  Feel free to call us (906-484-1081) with any questions or concerns or email us at info@glbbs.org.  See each workshop description and respective registration forms for payment terms.  There are two registration forms.  Choose the appropriate form (requires PDF reader), make a print out and mail it in.
